Our History
Education, Health, Justice, & Peace
VIVA Association (VIVAA) is a legally registered, apolitical, non-profit organization based in Bamenda II Sub-Division, Mezam Division, in the North West Region of Cameroon. Rooted in the Latin word “Viva”, meaning “Life”, the association was founded to foster holistic development and improve the well-being of individuals and communities. Officially established on March 1, 2021, and legalized by the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam on October 9, 2021, VIVAA champions the promotion of human dignity, inclusive development, and environmental sustainability.
The association was co-founded by Mr. Tatah Boniface Mbiydzela and Mr. Chin Peter Nyuyse, who now serve as President and Executive Secretary, respectively. Both founders brought together a group of like-minded Cameroonians, professionals from the fields of education, health, pastoral care, publishing, and development, united by a common passion to empower communities, protect human dignity, and advocate for sustainable change. At the inaugural general assembly, the association’s leadership was democratically elected, and the constitution was adopted, laying a solid legal and moral foundation for its operations.
Before its legal registration, VIVAA had already begun carrying out self-funded community initiatives, including the distribution of didactic materials to school children, girl-child education campaigns, holiday classes, reading culture promotion, and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) sensitization in schools. Since legalization, the association has expanded in both capacity and impact.
Since 2022, VIVAA has been providing consultancy services in Human Resource Management, personnel development, and safeguarding to institutions such as the Nazareth Agro-Pastoral Training and Production Center – Menteh, the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Rosary (MSHR), and PRIME FISH Cameroon SARL (PFC).
